Where Honest Conversations Meet Spiritual Curiosity

Each week across Nashville, something sacred unfolds around the table. With good food and open hearts, people from all walks of life come together — some have followed Jesus for years, others are just beginning to explore, and many are simply curious. But this isn’t just a meal. It’s a space for spiritual conversation, where honest questions naturally emerge:

  • “Who was Zacchaeus?”
  • “Why would people reject someone as loving as Jesus?”
  • “What does it mean that his time hadn’t yet come?”

These aren’t just casual questions — they’re signs of people encountering the story of God, often for the very first time. Around tables across our city, trust is forming, curiosity is awakening, and spiritual openness is growing. God is already at work — one meal, one question, one story at a time. As these conversations unfold, Nashville is learning to recognize where people are in their spiritual journey — and how to walk with them with wisdom, love, and patience.

The 5 Thresholds of Spiritual Conversation (Adapted from I Once Was Lost by Don Everts & Doug Schaupp)

This simple framework helps us understand how people often move toward faith in Jesus — and how to engage meaningfully at every step:

  1. Trusting a Christian
Before someone considers Jesus, they usually need to trust someone who follows Him.
    • Be present.
    • Be genuine.
    • Be curious about their story.
  2. Becoming Curious
Curiosity grows as trust builds. People begin asking deeper questions.
    • Ask thoughtful questions.
    • Invite wonder without pressure.
  3. Opening to Change
The hardest step — when someone begins to wrestle with personal change and spiritual truth.
    • Be patient.
    • Let the Spirit do the work.
    • Stay close and supportive.
  4. Seeking After God
A season of active exploration. People begin to pursue Jesus intentionally.
    • Open Scripture together.
    • Share your journey.
    • Stay engaged.
  5. Entering the Kingdom
The moment of decision — choosing to follow Jesus.
    • Extend a clear and loving invitation.
    • Walk with them into new life.

How Might We…
…as a city, walk alongside others in meaningful, Spirit-led conversations — believing that every conversation matters?
Because it genuinely does.
