A Season of Outreach, Renewal, and Gospel Joy in East Nashville

God is stirring something beautiful in the life of Ivy Memorial Baptist Church. Since Pastor Kyle Hill began his ministry on October 1, Ivy has entered a fresh season of renewal, mission, and joyful hospitality. Rooted in Pastor Kyle’s sermon series through the book of Nehemiah, the church is embracing a call to rebuild—not only its ministries and rhythms, but its heart for spiritual growth and attentiveness to the Word of God.

The result has been a remarkable few months of gospel partnership, community engagement, and renewed hope across East Nashville.

Donuts for a Difference: Meeting Our Neighbors Where They Are

One highlight of this season was a recent community outreach initiative called Donuts for a Difference. Ivy partnered with students from local colleges, and First Baptist Hendersonville for an afternoon of intentional neighborhood engagement.

Five teams spread out across East Nashville—visiting coffee shops, grocery stores, parks, storefronts, and even pausing to pray with firefighters during an active call. In just a few hours, God opened doors for:

  • 22 stops across the community
  • 8 meaningful invitations to visit Ivy
  • 2 clear gospel conversations
  • And countless interactions marked by prayer, encouragement, and the hope of Christ

This is the kind of church Ivy longs to be—a people on mission, showing up where their neighbors gather, and pointing them to Jesus with joy.

Opening the Doors—Physically and Spiritually

One of the most symbolic steps Ivy has taken is surprisingly simple:
On Sundays, the front doors are propped open.

This act reflects the heart behind the church’s renewal efforts. As Pastor Kyle says, “We cannot ask God to give us open hearts for our community while our physical doors remain closed.”

An open door communicates warmth, welcome, and expectancy—an invitation to neighbors that there is a place for them here. And already, this small gesture has sparked conversations with passersby and welcomed new faces into the building.

God Is Writing a Beautiful Story at Ivy Memorial

Whether through outreach, worship, hospitality, children’s ministry, or the steady preaching of God’s Word, Ivy Memorial Baptist Church is experiencing a fresh work of grace. The church is rebuilding—just as in the days of Nehemiah—not with bricks and mortar alone, but with renewed hearts turned toward the Lord.

If you’re nearby, consider joining them on a Sunday at 11:00 AM.
Their doors—and their hearts—are open.
