New Seasons
“I don’t know of a neighborhood that don’t need Jesus.”
Pastor Dwayne Lewis
New Season Church, located at 1900 South Hamilton Road in Nashville, Tennessee, is a vibrant, predominantly African American church led by Pastor Dwayne Lewis. The church was a replant of an older church in the Bordeaux neighborhood and is committed to reaching all people, regardless of their background or past. Pastor Lewis emphasizes the church’s mission to never give up on those who don’t look like them or are considered sinners, as these are the very individuals God has called them to reach He believes God is moving hearts to encourage people not to give up on His plans for others’ lives.
A core vision for New Season Church is to reach apartment complexes and schools in their community, recognizing that “every neighborhood needs Jesus.” They are actively involved with local schools, participating in programs like “pencil partners” with a school next to their church. The church also partners with community members, such as Brandy Tomlin, an apartment manager for the Bordeauxville apartments, to make an impact on low-income residents who have experienced hurt and brokenness, ensuring they know they are not alone and have the support of Jesus and the church.
Pastor Lewis shares heartwarming stories of transformation, including families overcoming dysfunction and children who were once disrespectful becoming actively involved in the church choir, usher board, and teaching in VBS. This work has led to both numerical and spiritual growth within the congregation. He firmly believes that evangelism should never cease, stating that if God can save him, then there’s nothing too difficult for God to do.
