Church Planting
Nashville: A Growing City with Cultural Vibrancy and Spiritual Opportunity
From Broadway to Franklin, Hendersonville to Bellevue, Nashville—Music City, USA—is a thriving cultural hub where multiple music genres are created and recorded.
The city is home to 500 healthcare companies, multiple universities, and the nation’s highest concentration of music industry jobs (over 80,000). It serves as a major transportation hub with extensive rail and highway networks and an expanding international airport. The tech sector continues to grow, highlighted by Oracle’s relocation to the East Bank near the new $2.2 billion Titans stadium.
With a metro population exceeding 2 million—projected to grow by 56% over the next 30 years—Nashville is also becoming increasingly diverse, including the largest Kurdish population in the U.S. and growing Hispanic and Pan-Asian communities. Nashville is truly an international city./p>
While Nashville is growing and full of energy, significant needs remain:
- 75% of residents are not engaged in a local church.
- Faith community participation has declined 10% over the past decade.
- Many newcomers have little to no church background.
Despite the city’s momentum, residents rank 8% below national averages in wellbeing, facing housing and employment pressures as neighborhoods transition. At the same time, there is increasing spiritual openness and a desire for community.
Taken together, these realities highlight a significant need for a diverse range of new churches to be planted throughout the urban core, neighborhoods, and communities across greater Nashville.
Our Process
-
Assessment
Our pre-assessment tools and the assessment retreat are valuable in helping a church planter and his family as well as the Sending Church know the best next steps on their church planting journey.
-
Assessment Retreat
Over the course of these two days, you will gain valuable insight into both your strengths and your areas for growth.
In a setting marked by encouragement and support, seasoned leaders from the context where you hope to plant will assess your readiness for church planting across nine key areas: calling, emotional and spiritual health, family dynamics, vision, leadership, communication, missional engagement, disciple-making, and social skills.
-
Orientation
This event is an encouraging and culture-building time of networking, inspiration, and fun where you will learn more about the Send Network kingdom values of family, multiplication and restoration.
-
Training Cohort
Learn alongside other new planters in your area in interactive sessions facilitated by an experienced trainer. This training gives you the tools you will need to develop and implement a contextual strategy for making disciples and planting.
-
Coaching
With extensive ministry experience and wisdom, a coach serves as a personal sounding board in your first years as a church planter. He will walk alongside you to help you determine your next steps in planting a healthy church that multiplies.
-
Care
Church planting should not be pursued alone. It takes compassion and support to help a planter and his wife establish a healthy church while nurturing family relationships. We come alongside you with resources, events, and gifts to encourage you and your family.
