Our History
A Legacy Worth Celebrating!
For nearly 150 years, the Nashville Baptist Association (NBA) has united churches across Middle Tennessee to advance the gospel and serve communities. Founded in 1900 by thirteen churches who recognized that they could accomplish more together than alone, the NBA has grown into a diverse network of congregations committed to evangelism, church planting, and community impact. Through the decades, our association has weathered cultural shifts, theological challenges, and even natural disasters, yet we have remained steadfast in our mission to Plant Healthy Churches, Renew Every Church, Encourage Ministry Leaders and Engage every community with the gospel.
The strength of the NBA lies in the cooperative spirit of our churches. From planting new congregations to revitalizing struggling ones, our churches have worked together to spread the hope of Christ throughout Nashville’s neighborhoods and beyond. Through initiatives like the Legacy Church Ministry, disaster relief efforts, and ministries reaching over 90 ethnic and language groups, we have seen lives changed, communities transformed, and the gospel proclaimed in powerful ways. We believe that by standing together, churches can make an impact far greater than any one congregation could on its own.
At the heart of our association is the shared commitment to the Great Commission. Whether through training pastors, equipping lay leaders, or mobilizing mission teams, we are dedicated to helping churches reach the lost, disciple believers, and serve their communities with Christ’s love.
Looking ahead, we are filled with hope and expectation for what God will do through the NBA. As Nashville continues to grow, so do the opportunities for church planting, revitalization, and gospel-centered collaboration. We remain committed to equipping churches to thrive in their mission.
