Diaspora Missions Collective: Trauma Care for Diaspora Communities
- Diaspora Missions Collective Presents:
- Trauma Care for Diaspora Communities
- October 15
- 12:00–1:30 PM
- Nashville Baptist Association
Many immigrants and refugees who now call Middle Tennessee home have experienced trauma through war, displacement, persecution, loss, and the challenges of beginning life in a new country. How can our churches better understand these experiences and offer care rooted in the hope of the gospel?
Join us for a practical conversation about trauma care and ministry among diaspora communities. David and Mary Helen Bush will introduce a biblical approach to trauma healing developed through Pioneer Bible Translators and the Trauma Healing Institute. This ministry equips churches and leaders with practical tools to help people process pain, encounter the hope of Scripture, and begin a journey toward healing.
This gathering will be especially helpful for pastors, ethnic pastors, missions leaders, and others serving Nashville’s diverse communities. You’ll gain a better understanding of how trauma can affect individuals and families and learn practical ways the local church can walk alongside refugees, immigrants, and others who have experienced significant loss or displacement.
About David and Mary Helen Bush
David and Mary Helen Bush have spent decades serving through education, church planting, leadership development, and international missions. Beginning in 1980, they served for 12 years in Kenya, planting churches and training leaders near Lake Victoria and helping plant a Deaf church in Nairobi.
After returning to the United States, they continued serving in education and church planting before returning to international missions with Pioneer Bible Translators in Tanzania. In recent years, their ministry has focused on diaspora communities in the United States. They currently work in six cities with significant diaspora populations, helping churches and communities provide biblically grounded trauma care.
