Come Closer: A Holy Week Prayer Journey

As Easter approaches, it’s a sacred time for Christians to reflect on the sacrifice of Jesus and the hope found in His resurrection. One of the most powerful ways to prepare our hearts is through prayer. In these quiet moments with God, we remember the depth of His love and align ourselves with His will.

Before the events of Good Friday and Easter Sunday, Jesus Himself turned to prayer. In the Garden of Gethsemane, He poured out His heart to the Father, modeling both humility and obedience:

He walked away, about a stone’s throw, knelt down, and prayed, ‘Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.’

Luke 22:41–42 (NLT)

This prayer reveals not only the anguish Jesus experienced but also His deep commitment to God’s plan. As we reflect on this, we’re reminded that prayer isn’t just about asking; it’s about surrendering.

In the days leading up to Easter, consider setting aside time each day to pray. Thank God for His gift of salvation, confess where you’ve fallen short, and ask Him to renew your spirit. Use this
season to grow closer to Him, so that when Easter morning arrives, your heart is ready to celebrate the victory of Christ with deep joy and gratitude.
