June 23, 2025

Here’s a focused list of 20 intentional and missional practices. Each one combines relational impact, gospel opportunity, and everyday accessibility—aligned with the Acts 1:8 movement and the B.L.E.S.S. rhythms of everyday life.

You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses… in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

Acts 1:8 (NLT)

Empowered by the Spirit, we’re called to be Christ’s witnesses—at home, in our region, across cultures, and to the nations. It all begins with prayer, listening, and love.

B — Begin with Prayer

  1. Pray daily by name for one or two neighbors or coworkers who don’t know Jesus. Mission starts with intercession.
  2. Do a prayer walk through your neighborhood, praying for every home. Ask God to move before you do.
  3. Start a weekly prayer group with other Christians at your workplace. Cover your vocational mission field together.
  4. Get a copy of Operation World and pray for one nation each week. Let your heart expand beyond your zip code.

L — Listen to Others

  1. Take a coworker or neighbor to coffee just to ask about their story. Be genuinely curious about who they are.
  2. Ask thoughtful spiritual questions during a walk, lunch, or shared moment. Listening earns the right to speak.
  3. Invite people into a shared interest or join an affinity group, and let their stories lead. Use shared interests as a relational bridge.
  4. Volunteer in spaces where people’s lives are open and unfolding. You’ll hear needs and longings in everyday settings.

E — Eat with People

  3. Invite someone to lunch simply to connect. You don’t need a big reason—just a willing heart.
  4. Become a host family for an international student. Extend your table to the nations.

S — Serve with Love

  1. Take steps to care for those in your neighborhood, apartment Community. Caring and blessing someone moves you into life with them.
  2. Get involved at a local food pantry or shelter. Serve the overlooked with dignity.
  3. Volunteer at a crisis pregnancy center, tutoring ministry, or addiction recovery center. Step into someone’s story with compassion.
  4. Fast and give the money saved to serve the poor or hungry. Sacrifice connects your soul with the need.

S — Share Your Story & Hear Theirs

  1. Start a simple discovery Bible study or “Who is Jesus?” group in your home or at work. Let Scripture spark spiritual conversations. (see DBS for More https://www.dbsguide.org)
  2. Invite spiritual dialogue by asking: “What do you think a Christian is?” Sometimes the best relational interaction begins with a question.
  3. Call or message a missionary just to pray with them and hear their story. Global stories fuel local faith.
  4. Memorize Acts 1:8 and Matthew 28:18–20 to anchor your story in God’s mission. Be ready to share why you live the way you do.
